Just picked this up today! No one has these in AZ and I spent wekks trying to find one, I would have bought the gold tiger striped one if it was available! Also picked up 2 boxes of magnum research ammo. I almost bought an aimpoint scope, not sure what type of red sight I am gonna get for it but if you have any suggestions please let me know, thanks. Oh yeah and this is my first Desert Eagle?
HOW DO I POST PICS?

Check out the trijicon doctor sight.

Very light only a few ounces.

You have to find a host for your photos, then copy the link to your photo using the menu above.

Congratulations!

Just got a shoulder holster at the Phoenix gun show for the Desert Eagle .50AE one side holsters the weapon the other allows for 2 more clips/magazines. Which I still need to buy; I am thinking about maybe some kind of red dot sight maybe but I would prefer just a laser I think, it may be less bulkier and I also want to get some new hogue grips but I got time. I hope to take it out to the range next week if I am lucky!

With some 1911's its not good to drop the slide with out having ammo in the inserted clip. Are there any issues with dropping the slide by just releasing the slide stop and allowing the slide to naturally slam/close shut dry no ammo or clip inserted? And what about dry firing?

Dry firing is fine, you can do that as often as you like.

You partly answered your own question concerning dropping the slide.

That is a slide stop lever, NOT a Slide Release.

You should never drop the slide using the slide stop lever, it is not designed for this and neither are most other semi auto handguns.

( Only in the movies )

Notice the depth of the notch in your slide that catches the slide stop?

Not very deep is it......

If you were to use the slide stop lever as a release with our without ammo in no time you will remove the hardness and start to round the corner out of that notch.

Presto, you won't have a reliable slide stop any longer, your gun will begin to not lock back.

When a loaded mag is inserted and your slide is locked back, point the pistol down, pull back on the slide to release the slide lock and release the slide.

Good to go man!

Thanks for the information! Do you have any suggestions for maybe a laser sight on this gun, I saw the doctor trijicons I dont really have an issue with the price its more the issue of being able to drop it in a holster. Please advise. Maybe I just need some night sights on it and forget about the laser.

It sounds like you are considering your DE for defense.

That being the case, I would definitely try to keep the weight and the bulk to the outside of the gun down.

I'm not sure if they make a set, but I would check out Crimson Trace for replacement grips with a built in laser. :Thumbs up:

Great post 50AE and I agree with you 100%.

I actually rounded out that notch and ruined my slide, come to find out during recoil I was knocking up the slide stop lever and causing it to engage in between shots.
