I have had a CCW license for the last 5 years, and as I most recently purchased my DE50AE I have been looking for a holster. Today I was at the gun show and speaking to a vendor about the different types of holsters that are available for my DE50AE. out oiof the blue this guy (J.A.) older guy next to me says what are you looking to carry? Well, first off its no ones business about what the F I carry. Honestly, it really does not concern "you" at all I am thinking to myself. So, the vendor tells him " he is looking to carry a DE50", the old guys response is WOW thats a big gun to carry. I am laughing on the inside now, and tell him "thats right, thats why I got it and if I want to carry it everyday I will" He snides off some comment about oh that gun must weigh about 8-10 pounds, again just ignorant I told him it weighs just over four pounds and I dont care if it weighed 20 pounds. SOME PEPOLE ARE JUST GREAT! HONESTLY, I WOULD CARRY MY LWRC M6A2 6.8MM EVERYWHERE IF I COULD, but since I can not I sure as hell can carry my DE50AE and will! Maybe not everyday, but it will definitely be a nice change up from a .45acp!
Now, I understand that if someone is asking me about carrying and wnating advice I dont mid sharing what carry methods have been successful for me, I just can not get on board with jack asses(J.A.)!

I feel for you. I remember taking my Desert Eagle to the range for the first time, when I had gone to get it (as some ranges don't allow it), he said to another gentleman that I was going too regret the purchase. Sure enough, I enjoyed shooting it. I also overheard him speaking to another group of gentleman about a rap video (maybe it's me), which made me 'stereotype', that it had something to do with me. I don't see the big deal with alot of people pursuing too negatively talk about this pistol. I think it's a great pistol, it's pretty much no bigger then some, .44 MAG - .357 MAG, revolvers. Don't listen too anyone that criticise your choice. Some people can't hit anything with any caliber pistol, unless up close to their face, yet they choose too carry. Oh, and about your holster, Magnum Research has a good selection. Best of luck. www.magnumresearch.com

I know how you feel. Before I got my Desert Eagle I went into a few gun shops just trying to find one and each time I asked some big mouth salesman/customer/shop owner/whatever always had something to say. I'm not one to listen to what anybody has to say unless I ask their opinion and if someone gives me their opinion without me asking they'll get mine. I've had many arguments with people who feel the need to tell me what they think when they find out I have a Desert Eagle. I'm a pretty big guy. I'm around 6'2" and 280 lbs so carrying a Desert Eagle is no problem for me. It's good to hear other people out there carry theirs as well. I find that most people who say negative things about the Desert Eagle simply can't handle it. It's not like other semiautomatic handguns. These people think that just because they can shoot a Glock, Beretta, Sig, etc. that they can handle the Desert Eagle too and when they can't they talk shit about it. As for holsters, I agree with MastaCAK47 that Magnum Research has a good selection of holsters. For mine I've got a leather Gould & Goodrich DEP 2539 hip holster. I'm not sure if they even make it anymore, but I've got no complaints about it.

Thanks... It's good to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Those at the range that run their mouths negatively about the DE are just plain jealous. I don't care what they say to defend that they are not but they are jealous.
It's also the reason I've been looking for a holster for mine online. Online I don't have to hear someone's mouth.
It's going to take a bit of money to get her going for CCW though. She's an old girl and needs to be revived but all I need is a tune up kit, two more mags and a holster (Which I think I have found one I like).
It will not be my everyday carry but it will be a nice change from carrying the others I have.
For those that I have encountered at the range though, they generally end up in shock and awe. Those 180 grain rounds I fire usually bring the range to a screeching halt and I usually hear nothing but praises when I'm done. The first thing they see is a flash that lights up the whole range then the big bang and the overpressure. After that it's all praises.
In reality though, anyone can handle a DE if they refine their techniques and get used to the sound, fury and recoil. A .44 DE has less recoil than a .44 magnum revolver with a 6 inch barrel.

It has happened to me, many times.
One local gun shop and frequently at my outdoor range.
You pull out the HQ equipment and the know it alls instantly smell you and come over to kiss your feet, ruin your range time.
They often try to give you advice on something that they don't even own or know anyting about.
Most of these BS people, don't plan to own a DE or can even afford one.
I use to smile. Look for the best way to get out of Dodge and go about my biz.
You want to have some fun? Get technical with some of these idiots.
Show them how stupid they are and they will dart off.
A few may even wet themselves. common smile

I agree I have heard some of the same stuff .. Why you want to carry that big thing
(I carry my 24k 50ae) I also have a AMT automag III .30 carbine pistol that I carry, it fits in my DE shoulder holster.. If I don't carry one of those, I have a .45 or a .44 mag I carry.. When I hear that question I reply because I can.. I always go out with 1 large caliber on my hip or shoulder and a .380 in my back pocket and a switchblade knife.. I have heard the B.S. line who you trying to impress. I don't do it to impress anyone (its concealed so no one can see any of them any how) Again I carry it because I live in the great state of Florida and I can carry what I want, and that is what I want to carry..
So I do!!

I'm lucky in that I have a gunshop that doesn't question why you want stuff. In fact they encourage all kinds of shooting from air guns on up and support all kinds of shooters.
In September while at our local range my wife was practicing with her carry gun, a Springfield EMP, when she was interupted by a huge boom and flash two positions down. Two fellows were shooting their .44 Mag DE's. The wife went down to watch. She's an attractive woman (I'm really lucky) and as you might expect they asked her if she wanted to try one out. She fired a mag full and hit the target every time. She loved it. :4_17_10:
Saturday morning she's going to find a new DE .50 AE in brushed chrome under the tree. I was looking for a .44 Mag but none were to be found around here but my favorite shop had two in .50 AE.
I hope I can also find a .44 Mag barrel but they look to be pretty scarce right now.

Well as an update I now have a shoulder holster for my .44 Deagle. I told one of my friend about it and he laughed and said "That should be an interesting carry." He's a good man, I wish I had enough dough to order two of many of the things I have because I know he'd LOVE to have one himself.
The one I have is right handed, one holster only on the left side plus two mag pouches. Carried it around town and man, for a winter carry it's perfect, unless you know what you're looking at you won't know that under that coat is a monster Deagle. lol
I also learned if I put some slack in the velcro loops and let the holster hang on my shoulders the way it wants to then it's actually very comfortable. I keep an open coat for easy access so I have to watch the coat so it doesn't inadvertantly open up. That's the only negative thing I can think of.
It's a verticle 90 degree barrel down set-up, trigger area completely covered (unlike the magnum research holsters [just didn't fit my preferances].) and I ditched the thumb snap, it didn't unsnap fast enough for me and since it's a verticle 90 set-up I just un-velcroed it and left the snap on the computer table. Pulls nice and smooth but I do have to watch the lip because it gets caught on the mag release when holstering the pistol (easy fix, just peel it towards you and shove it in the holster.
The holster is made by Skyball Mountain and it's also made in the good ole US of A (Hard to find these days. God bless them.)
