Just got my first DE and best I can tell it was manufactured in the mid 80s. Paperwork in the box was copyrighted 1986. Anyway I occasionally rust blue guns and was wondering if anyone had attempted to do something of this sort on one of theirs or if you have had someone else do it for you. Just want to make sure it is doable before going down that path. flanman:4_17_10:

Whatever you decide, just remember that you have to consider the gas ports. I briefly thought about nitriding, but was told by Coal Creek Armory that it couldn't be done because of this. I will likely be doing DLC, if it can be done...down the road. Expensive though. In the meantime, Eezox for protection (apply and dry) and Weapons Shield (also very corrosion resistant, but needs to be wet) for lube. For the Eezox, use nitrile gloves and have good ventilation...on the toxic side. Weapons Shield, on the other hand is very health friendly.

You could also check out Fords plating.

They are the company that does all of the finishes for Magnum Research. ( Several to choose from ), Ford's know's the guns inside and out.
